At the India-Qatar Business Forum in New Delhi, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted the growing energy trade and the need to transition to new-age technologies. Â
India and Qatar signed MoUs to enhance business cooperation, with agreements between the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA), and Invest India and Invest Qatar. Â
In 2023, India’s exports to Qatar totalled $1.82 billion, led by rice worth $154 million, while Qatar’s exports to India reached $12.9 billion, dominated by petroleum gas worth $9.71 billion.
Goyal invited Qatari companies to invest in India’s manufacturing, renewable energy, and infrastructure sectors, emphasising the synergy between Qatar Vision 2030 and India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 for mutual prosperity. Â
Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani arrived in India on 17th February for a two-day visit, marking his second state visit after March 2015.
