Pakistan food exports see growth in six months

Pakistan registered handsome 13.8 percent increase in exports of food items due to effective policies adopted by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and the present government during the first half of current fiscal year.

According to latest statistics released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), Pakistan exported food items to new markets of Europe, United Kingdom and Bangladesh.

During the first six months of fiscal year 2024-25, Pakistan had recorded 14.50 percent surge in exports of rice amounting to $1.87 billion.

Pakistan generated revenue of $433.82 through exports of basmati rice which were enhanced by 30.62 percent.

Exports of non-basmati rice witnessed a rise of 13.47 percent worth $1.44 billion.

Pakistan also exported 632,804 tons of sugar during these six months while 33,101 tons sugar was exported during the same period of previous fiscal year.

During first half of current fiscal year, Pakistan exported 3.64 percent more meat as compared to previous year, while 1.71 percent improvement was recorded in exports of onions.

The main aim of the SIFC is to multiply agriculture production and eatable items and export the same globally.
